There’s a running joke in my house that I don’t bake anymore. There are always candles that look like food but no baked goods made by mom. My oldest son always comes downstairs to find me making primitive cake ornaments that make the house smell as if I’m baking something delicious but it’s always something inedible.
So this morning I thought I would fool everyone with something edible. I decided to pull out my grain mill and my trusty Bosch mixer and make home baked bread. The funny thing is that nobody thought it was real food when it was in the oven but everyone was really surprised to see that mom actually baked bread. I made two whole wheat raisin loaves and two honey whole wheat that will last the day.
My Nutrimill, below, helps me to grind up to 20 cups of flour. I used the full amount for four loaves of bread, two extra large and two regular sized loaves.
Whole wheat berries going through the grinding process.
Voila! The finished bread.
Baking bread is something I really enjoy doing. I didn’t realize how much I miss it until this morning. Off to sample!
