You’ve probably heard of sampler boxes, little boxes you can purchase for a small fee to try out different products. If not, it’s a “thing” you may want to try for yourself. Over the last couple of years, we’ve been hit with a barrage of different sampler boxes. While I haven’t indulged in subscription boxes myself, I find myself quite intrigued with beauty and luxury boxes.
Come on. You have to admit. There’s something exciting about the thought of opening up a box and getting to try out different goodies. I imagine it’s like Christmas getting them in the mail and rushing to get them open.
If you’re new to sampler boxes, you’ll find them in the form of a one time fee or a subscription. Here are a few samplers that I’ve been eyeballing:
Birchbox. Why? Because it’s makeup, it’s skin care, it’s hair care, and it’s personalized. This is a box that looks like it’s giving up a nice variety that’s not just junk in a box. I’m going to get some stuff that fits me!
Julep Maven Why? Because I love trying new beauty products and the Jule Box has just what I want: skin care, make up, and a few accessories (i.e., make up bags and brushes). They’re also giving away a free gift with your very first box.
Play by Sephora Why? It’s all about the mystery of the unknown. While I haven’t been able to find out exactly what’s inside these boxes (aside from knowing that it’s a beauty/skincare box), I’ve read reviews on these boxes. With an overall 4 star rating, I’m in for the trying. Not to mention, I’ve seen lingering talk about Sephora giving away some other perks like tips and tricks, and some Spotify music too!
Essence Beauty Box Why? First of all, because it’s Essence. It’s geared toward women of color, which makes me feel like I’ll be getting something a little more tailored (like the birchbox). It’s offering beauty, skincare, hair care and even lifestyle products.
Amazon Luxury Box Why? Because it’s packed with about 20 samples at about a dollar a piece. It has a rating of about 4 stars with brand names like Calvin Klein and Lacrosse, but don’t let the word “luxury” fool you. While it bears brands that are well known for skin and hair care, many of the brands noted were not high end luxury products. That may or may not matter to some.
Target Beauty Box Why? Because they sell out in a flash! Anything that sells as fast as these do makes me wonder what’s so good about them. Four star overall review and a lot of people rushing to get them. Not to mention, they only come out about every other month, so there’s apparently a wait to rush them. I want in!
Well, there you have it. It’s my eye candy for the beauty box samplers. I’ll let you in on each one that I get my hands on. Have you tried any of these, or some others? I’d like to hear your experience.
